{"id":946,"date":"2020-10-11T21:11:58","date_gmt":"2020-10-11T21:11:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ruataniwha.co.nz\/?p=946"},"modified":"2020-10-11T21:12:00","modified_gmt":"2020-10-11T21:12:00","slug":"big-hearted-rowers-wanted-for-heart100k-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ruataniwha.co.nz\/index.php\/2020\/10\/11\/big-hearted-rowers-wanted-for-heart100k-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Big-Hearted Rowers wanted for #Heart100k Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At 8:00 am 6 November\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stuff.co.nz\/sport\/other-sports\/300064900\/auckland-man-overcoming-disability-to-tackle-second-mammoth-charity-event-in-two-years\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mark Taylor<\/a>\u00a0will sit down on an erg at the <a href=\"https:\/\/theaucklandrowingclub.org.nz\/100km-erg-challenge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Auckland Rowing Club<\/a> and attempt to row 100k to raise money for the Heart Foundation. 100k is a challenge for any rower. For Mark it\u2019s tougher by an order of magnitude. For the past sixteen years he has been living with a degenerative neurological disorder, neurosarcoidosis.\u00a0He cannot see, he can barely walk and he has lost strength in his right arm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that hasn\u2019t stopped him. In April 2019 he swam across Auckland Harbour to raise $150,000 for neurological research. At home. Anywhere you can find an erg.
