South Island Rowing became an incorporated society in mid 1983 with the key objective to promote and foster the sport of rowing in New Zealand. Since that time, many individuals have played pivotal roles for the SIR Board and built a true legacy for the future generations of rowers in New Zealand – which has become one of the powerhouse nations for rowing in the world.
