Paddlers from across the South Island once again enjoyed the facilities at the Meridian Rowing Centre for their annual Sprint Regatta. The competition was held over the weekend of 2-3 October and introduced a slightly different format of racing than previous years. Paddlers raced in divisions of similar ability rather than the traditional age/gender racing. This made for some close, competitive and fun racing.
Canoe Racing NZ Events Manager Karen Simpson-Warren expressed her thanks to South Island Rowing on behalf of the Canoe Racing community for the warm welcome they received and for the facilities that were provided – it was another enjoyable visit to Lake Ruataniwha.
SIR look forward to welcoming everyone back for the regatta again in 2022.
